So last week singer/songwriter Solange Knowles took to twitter to express that she is fed up with the Natural Hair Police. It seems like ever since Solange started rocking her afro the natural hair community had much to say about it. I believe most has been good feedback, but there are some folks out there who aren’t scared to add some negative comments about her look. The point Solange is trying to get across is that she is not gungho on natural hair…yes she wears her hair natural but she has not studied on the best ways to manage your  hair be it twist outs, co-washing, what curling cremes work the best, diffusing and the list could go on and on with the different hair regimens for natural hair care. Solo just wants to be free to do whatever she wants to with her hair and not be looked at as the poster child for natural hair. I hate to break it to her though…it’s not going to happen. Some things (sorry to say) you have to deal with being a celebrity. The natural hair community loves to embrace other naturals, and if a celeb is rocking their b-day hair then it will be noticed. Unfortunately negative comments come through, but for the most part it’s all positive!

Im only going to say a few things. I cut my hair ALL off 4 times in my life all for very different reasons….I only reiterate this because this is nothing new for me. This 4th time did not define me, just as it had not the previous 3 times. I’ve never painted myself as a team natural vice president. I don’t know the lingo and I don’t sleep with a satin cap… (Really now you know that’s against the rules Solange). However, I did noticed when I picked out my hair, I kept seeing feedback about needing a “twist out”. Connnnfesssioonnn: I HATE twist outs. Correction, I hate the way they look on me. SO i end up always picking them/steaming them out. (Yeah I feel you on that one I hate twist outs on me too, they just aren’t for everyone!)Look, all i’m saying is. My hair is not very important to me….so i don’t encourage it to be important to you. Im very emotional today (involving something else) , so i’m letting the momentum of that help me to express the fact that…I dont want to talk about no damn hair…..no mo.  (AND maybe i’m biased, but I agree 100% with the article I posted…)Just having a moment to express my disdain for the Natural Hair police of the world:).

Being a natural myself  I honestly have to say I’m in the same boat as Solange I’m not privvy to all the things I need to do for my natural hair. I just try something different here and there whatever works for me. Anywhoo I love Solo’s natural hair especially in her recent photoshoot with France’s Glamour Magazine.
